Entrepreneurs are a critical component in the creation of start-up companies and in the development of an innovation-driven economy.  While Maryland has an abundance of valuable resources for the creation of new ventures, it needs to do more to celebrate its seasoned entrepreneurs and to support and cultivate new entrepreneurs.

The Maryland Entrepreneurs Resource List was specifically created by TEDCO to address this need by identifying both new and experienced entrepreneurs who are available to start or mentor companies and to form partnerships with other entrepreneurs.

DESCRIPTION

The Maryland Entrepreneurs Resource List is a listing of entrepreneurs who are available in the Maryland area in the next 18 months to get involved with a start-up company.  The List can be used by innovators who need an entrepreneur to commercialize their technology or by university and federal laboratory technology transfer professionals who want to identify management for a start-up opportunity being developed at their institution.  The List can also be used by entrepreneurs who are looking for their next start-up opportunity, entrepreneurs who want to build a management team for a current project, and entrepreneurs who are looking to be a mentor or an advisor.

ENTREPRENEURS

If you are an entrepreneur who whould like to mentor or get involved with a startup, simply click on the link provided above, “REGISTER to be listed,” complete the application form and download a biographical sketch (limited to 250 words).  Your name will then be added to the List.  Listed entrepreneurs will be asked to re-register each year to keep the list current.  Only entrepreneurs indicating that they are available in the next 18 months will be included on the list. 

Privacy Option: While all background information (i.e., area of expertise and experience level information) will be posted on the list, entrepreneurs have the option to keep their names and other personal contact information private.  Any inquiries for an entrepreneur on the List who has selected this option will be managed by TEDCO such that the listed entrepreneur can remain anonymous and respond at their option.   

ACCESSING THE LIST

A variety of reports are available using the link provided above, “VIEW the LIST.”  Reports are based on each listed entrepreneur’s area of expertise, level of experience, and willingness to mentor other entrepreneurs.  Reports are updated from the list every 7 – 10 days.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

Entrepreneurs included on the List will be invited to attend and participate in technology showcases and other networking events hosted by TEDCO.  In addition, TEDCO anticipates creating other networking events or roundtables for the listed entrepreneurs based on their level of interest.

POLICIES

The Maryland Entrepreneurs Resource List has been created with the intent of fostering entrepreneurial activity by providing a list of entrepreneurs in the Maryland area who are interested in joining a start-up opportunity and a list of mentors who are willing to provide advice and guidance on a pro bono basis.  In the event that an individual registers for the list for purposes inconsistent with this intent, TEDCO, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to remove the name of that individual from the list.  Anyone becoming aware of any misuse of the List can notify the contact person listed below.

The Maryland Entrepreneurs Resource List is an open list – anyone can register themselves. Those seeking to contact someone on the list for involvement in a project are responsible for completing their own due diligence.
