This study performs an economic impact assessment of Maryland’s 18 technology incubators and identifies the positive impact of Maryland's incubator network on the State's economy. This study also analyzes the State’s capacity for the development of additional facilities as well as the opportunity for niche incubators. Issues faced by both tenant and graduate companies are identified as are options to address these issues.

The Maryland Incubator Impact Study is the first study of its kind to measure the impact of Maryland’s six technology incubators in the state. The study uses three distinct and independent methodologies which show the incubators’ impact on Maryland’s economy.

Incubator Focus Group Study

This study was designed to analyze the current environment for business incubators, to determine the ideal conditions that would maximize incubators’ success, and to outline priority actions for them. The research was based on focus groups with 28 incubator tenants (approximately 25 percent of all incubator tenants in Maryland) and identified the top five highest priorities for incubator companies.
